Identify Group is a rapidly growing family of niche recruitment businesses established in 2005. The group provides advisory services and both permanent and contractor recruitment solutions.

Each group company is a specialist, including Shirley Parsons Associates (Health & Safety), ITL (Telco) and Identify HR (Human Resources). The company has offices in the UK (Aylesbury & Reading) and the US (Boston, MA). Having expanded to a team of over 50 recruitment professionals and with ambitious growth plans, the group recognised that their recruitment technology was no longer fit for purpose.

The Growth Challenge

“We were on a growth pattern that meant that we were going to go from a single site business to a multi-site business. We had doubled in size quickly, which meant a lot of our processes were human-based, creating bottlenecks”, says Grant Whelan, Director of Identify Group, ”We understood that to have robust growth we would need to introduce better processes and systems, and have the ability to operate from multiple locations.”

Previously the two original group companies had operated with separate instances of an on-premise recruitment database, which restricted the opportunity for cross-selling, as well as limiting the ability to scale the business into new offices and locations.

The previous system also suffered from very low take-up by recruiters, consultants and management.

“Effectively it had become a place where we stored phone numbers and a few CVs’, says Grant, “...a lot was done in Excel spreadsheets, in Outlook and in people’s desk drawers. Psychologically the guys didn’t like it, didn’t use it and it didn’t fit in to our strategy of moving everything off-premise.”
